1. General
What is TowAlert?
TowAlert is a notification-facilitation platform designed to enable any individual to discreetly and promptly inform the registered owner of a vehicle that the vehicle in question requires attention — for example, where it is obstructing a driveway, occupying a no-parking zone, has completed electric-vehicle charging, or may be involved in a minor incident. The owner is notified without the identity of the reporting individual being disclosed.
Is TowAlert affiliated with any government authority, towing company, or law-enforcement agency?
No. TowAlert is an independently operated private service. It does not tow, clamp, ticket, or otherwise physically interact with any vehicle, and it does not act on behalf of, or in coordination with, any municipal, traffic, or law-enforcement authority.
2. Account Registration & Verification
How do I create an account?
You may register using your mobile number, which will be verified by a one-time password ("OTP") delivered via WhatsApp or SMS, or alternatively by signing in with your Google account.
Why is my mobile number required?
Your mobile number serves as your unique account identifier and as the channel through which OTP-based authentication is performed, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
3. Vehicle Registration & Ownership Verification
How do I register my vehicle?
Navigate to "My Vehicle" within the application and submit your vehicle's registration ("number plate") details. Upon submission, your vehicle will initially be recorded in an unverified state.
What is the difference between a verified and an unverified vehicle record?
A verified vehicle record is one in which ownership has been confirmed through OTP authentication of the mobile number officially associated with the vehicle's registration certificate ("RC"). Verified ownership is afforded priority in all matters of notification routing, ensuring that alerts are directed to the confirmed current owner.
I have not verified my vehicle. Will I still receive alerts?
Where a vehicle has not been verified by any User, and another individual reports that vehicle, TowAlert will, in order to fulfil its core notification function, use other means reasonably available to it to identify a contact number for that vehicle, and will dispatch the relevant notification to that number. Further detail is available in our Privacy Policy.
4. Reporting a Vehicle
How do I report a vehicle?
Select "Report" within the application, photograph the vehicle and its number plate, select the applicable reason, confirm the automatically captured location, and select your preferred notification channel before submitting the report.
Will the vehicle owner be informed of my identity?
No. Your identity as the reporting individual is never disclosed to the vehicle owner under ordinary operation of the Service. The owner receives only the reason for the report, the reported location, and a corresponding map reference.
What happens after I submit a report?
The Service will attempt to identify the current registered owner and dispatch a notification accordingly. You will receive a corresponding status update within the "Alerts" section of the application, confirming whether the notification was successfully delivered, remains pending, or could not be completed, together with the reason therefor.
5. Notifications & Communication Channels
Through which channels are owners notified?
Depending on the option selected at the time of reporting, notifications may be delivered via WhatsApp message, SMS, in-application push notification, or automated voice call ("IVR").
The owner did not respond to my report. What recourse is available to me?
TowAlert is a best-effort notification facilitation service. We do not guarantee that any notification will be received, read, or acted upon within any particular period, nor do we guarantee any specific outcome. Where the matter is urgent or constitutes a safety hazard, you are advised to contact the appropriate local authority directly.
6. Ownership Disputes & Vehicle Sale
I have sold my vehicle. How do I stop receiving alerts for it?
Within the application, select the relevant vehicle and choose the option indicating that you no longer own the vehicle (for example, "I sold this vehicle" or "Wrong plate number"), and provide the requested details. Upon submission, no further notification will be dispatched to you in respect of that vehicle. On any subsequent report concerning that vehicle, TowAlert will re-verify current ownership through the applicable third-party registration database before determining whether, and to whom, any further notification should be dispatched.
7. Family Members & Shared Vehicles
My vehicle is used by multiple members of my household. Can more than one person receive alerts?
Yes. The verified owner of a vehicle may add additional individuals as "Family Members" within the application, enabling such individuals to also receive notifications concerning that vehicle, without the need for each individual to separately complete ownership verification.
8. Alert Credits & Subscription Plans
Is TowAlert free to use?
TowAlert offers a free tier of usage, together with optional paid alert-credit packs and subscription plans that provide additional usage allowances and features, as set out within the application at the time of purchase. All payments are processed by a third-party payment processor in accordance with our Terms of Service.
9. Privacy & Confidentiality
How is my personal information protected?
We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encryption of sensitive identifiers, to protect your information. A complete description of our data-handling practices is set out in our Privacy Policy.
How do I request deletion of my account and associated data?
You may submit such a request to support@towalert.in, and we shall process it in accordance with the retention principles set out in our Privacy Policy and applicable law.
10. Further Assistance
Should your enquiry not be resolved by the foregoing, please contact our support team at support@towalert.in, or use the "Report a Problem" option within the application, and we shall respond at the earliest opportunity.
